Level Sensors

Whatever your media, tank depth, and profile, SSI Technologies, Inc. most likely has an ultrasonic liquid level sensor for you.

Our ultrasonic liquid level sensors use ultrasonic technology to generate a high-frequency sound wave to measure the time for the echo to reflect off of the target and return to the ultrasonic liquid level sensor. The distance from the ultrasonic liquid level sensor to the fluid is then calculated based on the speed of sound and the profile programmed into the sensor.

SSI introduces our TULC Sensor, an in-tank combination sensor for accurate and reliable measurement of temperature, level, and fluid quality/concentration, optimal for urea tank applications.

Fluid-Trac™

The Fluid-Trac™ cost-competitive fluid level sensor is ideal for tanks or storage containers that have a depth/height up to 32 inch (81.28cm); 24 inch (60.96cm) for gasoline.

Digital Fluid-Trac™

The Digital Fluid-Trac™ drum liquid level gauge is a cost competitive, non-contact continuous drum liquid level gauge. It is designed for use on vertical drums (≤ 32 inch depths) in storing a wide variety of media such as water, waste water, motor oil, hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel.

Acu-Trac™ SMART 485

The Acu-Trac™ SMART sensors are for tanks or storage containers that have a depth/height up to 6.23 feet (1.9 meters) for gasoline and 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) for other media. These sensors provide various outputs & on-vehicle communications.

Acu-Trac™

The Acu-Trac™ sensor is ideal for tanks or storage containers that have a depth/height up to 9.84 feet (3 meters). These sensors provide various outputs & off-vehicle communications.

Point Level Switch

The Fluid-Trac™ PLS (Point Level Sensor) may be used in any size tank or storage container to control up to three switch points within 32 inch (81.28cm); 24 inch (60.96cm) for gasoline.

Acu-Trac™


Acu-Trac™ Details

The Acu-Trac™ Fuel Level Sensor is a non-contact sensor that is a direct replacement for level sensors on tanks with depths up to ≤ 1.5 meters (59 inches). The Fuel Level Sensor offers a choice of outputs (analog current loop; ratiometric voltage; or nonratiometric voltage).

The Fuel level sensor has the additional capability of processing real time fuel data and messaging on a J1708 data link for both on vehicle and off vehicle communications.

The Fuel level sensor provides the user flexibility to program for tank configuration, digital filtering, sensor mounting offset, gauge drive output full and empty endpoints and communication mode.

TULC Sensor


SSI Technologies, Inc. introduces our TULC Sensor, an in-tank combination sensor for accurate, reliable measurement of temperature, level, and fluid quality/concentration, for SCR Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tanks to meet legislated mandates for cleaner diesel emissions.

Governments around the world are creating legislation to control and reduce the amount of pollutants that can be released into the environment.

Starting in January 2010, UREA tanks became standard equipment for most new diesel trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and automobiles in the U.S. Tractors, bulldozers, and other non-road vehicles will follow to meet the new EPA standards.

Running without UREA or with contaminated UREA, results in an engine exceeding the permitted emission levels while vehicle operators are subject to fines.

Critical features include:

Fluid-Trac™


The Fluid-Trac™ cost-competitive liquid level sensor family is ideal for tanks or storage containers that have a depth/height of 32 inches (24 inches for gasoline). These liquid level sensors are chemically compatible with gasoline, diesel fuels, ethanol, oils, fresh water, sewage water, UREA (AdBlue) and engine coolants. A minimum order quantity of 10 units is available through our distribution partner. Orders of 100 units or more are available from the factory direct, test samples are available for large opportunities.

Fluid-Trac™ Options

Two-Wire

The Fluid-Trac™ 2-wire liquid level sensors are non-contact sensors that can be used as a more reliable and accurate replacement for standard 30-240 ohm resistive float sender, reed-switch tube sensors or capacitive tube senders.

The Fluid-Trac™ is 2-wire liquid level sensor is commonly used to work with fuel gauges.

Three-Wire Resistive Output

The Fluid-Trac™ 3-wire Resistive Output liquid level sensor can be factory programmed to have a resistive output in the range of 8 to 320 ohms. The Fluid-Trac® 3-wire resistive output liquid level sensor allows direct replacement of 33-240 ohm float senders or 10-180 ohm float senders.

Three-Wire Voltage Output

The Fluid-Trac™ 3-wire ultrasonic level sensor is a non-contact liquid level sensor that offers a wide variety of input and output options which enables it to interface with many different microprocessor-controlled fuel gauges or digital instrumentation.

Focus Tube Application

The Fluid-Trac™ Focus Tube Adaptor (FTA) is designed to be mated to the SSI Technologies, Inc. Fluid-Trac unit with 5 bolt mounting specification. FTA will fit on tanks with SAE J1810 bolt pattern.

The Digital Fluid-Trac™ drum liquid level gauge is a cost competitive non-contact continuous drum liquid level gauge. It is designed for use on vertical drums (≤ 32 inch depths) storing a wide variety of media such as water, waste water, motor oil, hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel.

The Digital Fluid-Trac™ drum liquid level gauge is NOT intended for use with gasoline.

The Digital Fluid-Trac™ drum liquid level gauge is currently available for use with standard 13, 30 & 55 gallon drums.

Acu-Trac™ SMART 485


Acu-Trac™ SMART 485 Details

The Acu-Trac™ Smart 485 family ultrasonic level transducers are designed for continuous liquid level monitoring and liquid level control applications. These non-contact, continuous liquid level transducers can monitor tanks or storage containers that have a depth of up to 1.9 meters (75.69 inches) for gasoline and 2.5 meters (98.4 inches) for other media.
The Acu-Trac™ Smart 485 ultrasonic level transducers incorporate a RS-485 bus for real time processing of liquid levels in two messaging formats.

Performance Considerations
An understanding of the variables that affect the performance of an ultrasonic distance sensor application is important to maximize reliability.

Messaging
The Smart 485 has two types of RS-485 messaging – programming commands and timed data broadcast message (PID 96).

Configuration Kit
The Acu-Trac™ Smart 485 Level Transducer Configuration Kit provides the user the following flexibility:

• The ability to re-configure the unit to support virtually any tank/container size or shape up to 2.5 meters in depth.
• The ability to easily set up the analog output.

Point level Switch


Point Level Switch

SSI Technologies’ Point Level Switch/Sensor (PLS) is a durable and economical control module for reliable limit level control OEM applications. The Fluid-Trac™ PLS comes in a compact package that combines – a smart point level ultrasonic level sensor, internal temperature compensation, embedded software and three low side output circuit drivers. The Fluid-Trac™ PLS control module was designed for versatile external control capability. It can be interfaced to Relays, Switches, Pumps, Valves, Audible Alarms/Buzzers and Flashing Alarms.

Listed below are a few of the typical OEM applications:

Single Point Control – Fluid-Trac™ PLS can keep a tank from running dry or overflowing. The PLS can be factory programmed with a critical level set point so that whenever the set point is reached, the low side driver will close the circuit to allow a pump to turn on or open a valve.

Multiple Point Control – Fluid-Trac™ PLS can be used for liquid level regulation to either keep a tank between two or three critical level set points or to activate two or three different external operations at each critical set point. Monitoring liquid levels to the factory programmable limit level set points allows for activation of pumps, valves and external alarms (audible, flasher, LED).

For original equipment manufacturers, SSI engineering can customize the Fluid-Trac™ PLS embedded software to provide the best solution for your unique application needs.
